Tucker United

I’m the Director of Communications and a spokesperson for Tucker United, a non-partisan, grassroots coalition fighting a power plant and data center complex proposed to built in Tucker County, West Virginia.

The massive gas- and diesel-fired power plant would be located just two miles from the mountain towns of Davis and Thomas. If fully built out, the data center complex could span 10,000 acres, making it one the largest data center complexes in the world. This project poses immense threats to human health, our vibrant tourism economy, and our rural way of life. The project’s close proximity to our public lands, including Dolly Sods Wilderness and Blackwater Falls State Park, means West Virginia’s wildlife, watersheds, and beloved landscapes are also at risk.

Making matters worse, the West Virginia legislature passed a house bill (HB2014) preventing counties and municipalities from having any say in the development of microgrid power plants and data center complexes, despite the significant impacts these projects have on local communities. This bill also sends 70% of the tax revenue from microgrids and data centers directly to Charleston, leaving just 30% for the county.

In April 2025, I helped launch Tucker United. As Director of Communications and a spokesperson, I work with journalists and media outlets to raise awareness about this project and voice our concerns. So far, our coalition has been covered in 97 articles across local, national, and international media outlets, including The Wall Street Journal, AFP, 100 Days in Appalachia, West Virginia Watch, and the Charleston Gazette-Mail. I’ve also done live interviews on The Bottom Line (Fox Business), WV Public Broadcasting, and Public News Service.

As a member of Tucker United’s steering committee, I inform our overall strategy, organize and lead community meetings, speak with local politicians, and engage with Tucker County residents and allies.
